This experimental project was to explore using nontraditional material in fashion design. As the traditional material being mainly textile fabrics, this project was focused on using materials other than fabrics and minimizing traditional sewing techniques.

Materials: Fixture/plant hanging chain, S-hooks, fiber glass mosquito net, black vinyl garden covering, and cotter pins

The top piece was made entirely with chains by locking each chain links. From the designing stage to the finished project, each part of the top was draped in half side of the dressform and repeated to the other side to be symmetric. The skirt waistband is made with chain and linked to the skirt front and back made with mosquito nets. On the surface of the skirt front and back panels, strips of mosquito net were rolled up and fastened with cotter pins to add 3D interest.
